Getting home safe after a long day at work is what we all want for ourselves, our family, colleagues, customers and suppliers. But it is not an absolute given occurrence. Now, for an exceptionally rewarding time span, the Superfos Packaging Solutions facility in Norway has kept focus and can celebrate an extraordinary milestone: 3,000 days – or more than eight years – without a reportable accident.
Tore Andreassen, QHSE Manager at Superfos Kristiansand, says:
“A huge thanks goes to each and every employee in Kristiansand who has contributed to reach this milestone! We can all rightly be very proud of our common achievement.”
Maintaining a safe and healthy working environment for everyone is a key priority of Berry Global Inc., the parent company of Superfos. It is also a daily activity, which requires consistent decisions, actions, and behaviour in support of safety from every employee on the production site and the management.
Several benefits
Obviously, the safety of each employee is paramount, however putting people first pays off in several ways. Tore Andreassen explains:
“Actually, customer service and a safe working environment are interconnected. A high level of safety eliminates down time at the facility. At the end of the day, this means that Superfos can secure a smooth and reliable supply chain, which is paramount to our customers. A classic win-win.”
The Superfos Kristiansand facility has expertise in food technology and produces packaging solutions for food, including sealing machines, sealing films and trays. The BRC Hygiene Standard and certification for ISO 9001 Quality Management are in place. Key customers represent the retail sector and the food processing industry.
