Now big packs can get an oxygen barrier

A new option is ready for food producers: RPC Superfos now offers bulk size plastic packaging with a high tech oxygen barrier, ideal for products for the foodservice industry.

More and more people are concerned about good health and eating habits. The food industry follows this trend by launching an increasing number of products with a reduced amount of preservatives. To help food producers keep these products fresh - also at a larger scale – RPC Superfos now launches plastic packaging with an oxygen barrier in bulk size.

Makes life easier for kitchen staff
Ignacio Igea, Sales Director Region Iberia, RPC Superfos, says:

“RPC Superfos wants to support innovative food producers, so now we offer a high tech oxygen barrier packaging also for the bigger sizes used in the B2B segment. Low oxygen transmission rates, convenience and efficient logistics are among the key advantages. We are proud to be among the few plastic packaging providers that are able to offer these outstanding properties for the bigger sized food product packs used in professional kitchens.”

“In the foodservice industry it seems quite common to fill remaining food – for example tomato sauce – from a big metal can in a plastic pail, because in this way the sauce may be kept in the fridge and will stay fresh for longer. However, it leaves the kitchen staff with some disorder as there will be both metal cans and plastic pails in the kitchen working area, which take up a lot of space. So if your food product for the foodservice industry comes in a plastic container with an oxygen barrier from the beginning, it is likely to increase its popularity, as it makes life easier for end-users,” Ignacio Igea explains.

Re-closability, convenience and safety
RPC Superfos offers several types of bulk size plastic container with oxygen barrier. They help to maintain the organoleptic properties of the food, meaning the aspect of food that are perceived by the senses taste, sight, smell and touch.

Besides longer shelf life when opened, other advantages are re-closability, easy logistics and a low noise level. Also, plastic is safe and practical. There is no risk of contaminating a workplace with broken glass.

For more information, please get in touch with your contact at RPC Superfos who will be pleased to outline some oxygen barrier options that suit you - and not least your end-users.
