New high-volume production equipment at Berry Superfos in Pamplona

Berry Superfos has invested in a 1,000-ton new machine at our facility in Pamplona, Spain. The machine will be used to produce mono-material 20-liter containers for UN-approved transportation of solids and liquids.

Berry Superfos offers a broad variety of high-quality plastic packaging solutions. This includes special containers to meet the strict United Nations (UN) demands for transportation of sensitive solids and liquids such as chlorine, oil, lubricants, and adhesives.

Recently, Berry Superfos introduced a new 1,000 tons machine at our facility in Pamplona to broaden the Berry Superfos series of UN-approved containers. The machine produces 20-liter container made from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) only, i.e., mono material containers – a feature that facilitates recycling and circularity of the HDPE material.

The new machine has a double-cavity mould which enables the production of twice as many containers in one operation.

Another improvement to make the production more efficient and recycling of the material easier is that the lid of the 20-liter container now has one pouring spout only instead of both a pouring spout and a breather. This offers advantages in the grinding process of the containers after use. 

To make the project possible, the Berry Superfos Pamplona facility received a subsidy from the Government of Navarra under the 2021 call for investment aid in large industrial companies.
