Superfos nominated for prestigious automation prize

For a 100 per cent on-line quality control of all packaging products, Superfos Randers is one of three nominees for the Danish Automation Prize 2011.

A series of sophisticated vision systems including of state-of-the art cameras ensures a flawless control of the plastic packaging production at Superfos Randers. The intense use of automation system has lead to a nomination of the company and its employees for the Automation Prize 2011, instituted by DIRA, Danish Robot Network.

Automated control and supervision
Superfos Randers uses vision-systems developed and implemented by TriVision, a Danish company specialised in supervision systems based on cameras. The vision-systems provide for control of the In-Mould Labelling artwork and other production parameters such as the joints, the bar codes and the stability of the pots. Also, the auto-pack setup at Superfos Randers is as automated as possible.

About the selection
There are two other nominees for the prize, one nomination concerns automated sterilisation of surgical instruments and the other light weight robots. The jury consists of four experts of the production industry and all nominations have been made by third parties. TriVision has nominated Superfos Randers for the DIRA Automation Prize.

On 6 September at the opening of Denmark’s most important industrial trade fair, HI 2011, Danish Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen will present the winner with the honourable prize.
