Celebrating five awards: Berry Superfos recycled paint containers project wins again
Adding to previous accolades, Berry Superfos has delightedly accepted two new awards for our Closed Loop Recycled Paint Containers project—the Sustainable Packaging News Award and the Packaging Europe Sustainability Award. These latest recognitions bring the total count to an impressive five awards for this ground-breaking initiative.
Jamie Riley, Divisional Sustainability Manager, Berry Superfos, says:
“We are delighted to see our paint container solution so widely recognised for its pioneering approach. The environmental impact of the project is significant – we can reduce the overall impact of both the paint and its packaging through the reduction of waste products sent to landfill and the carbon emissions associated with incineration. The project, therefore, helps paint companies to meet customer demands for more sustainable paint packaging while giving consumers greater opportunities to sustainably dispose of both their waste paint and used paint containers.”
Making containers suitable for recycling
Recycling paint containers after use can present the challenge of removing enough of the residue paint from the containers to make them suitable for recycling. The Berry Superfos solution enables the waste paint to be removed and re-engineered into new paint by Paint360, leaving the empty paint containers ready to be recycled back into new containers.
The awards previously won by this project include the Plastics Industry Award, the RECOUP Award and The Horners Bottlemakers Award.
