Safety first in Kruszwica

Safety first in Kruszwica

For 10 years now – that is an impressive 3,653 days – a Berry Superfos facility in Poland, has operated without any reportable accidents. This is good news for both customers and employees.

What does it take to reach a full decade without any reportable accidents? This is the outstanding accomplishment just achieved by the Berry Superfos facility in Kruszwica, Poland.

According to the facility’s EHS Manager Przemysław Greinert, it is all about cooperation and a good work environment. He says:

“Our new safety record at the Kruszwica site is the result of determination, dedication and clear communication between management and employees at all levels. Further, the effective work of our Health & Safety team is crucial; we use professional training systems, efficient controls and internal/external audits to raise awareness of health and safety among all employees.”

Safety and quality go hand in hand
The facility in Kruszwica, a town in central Poland, produces a wide range of standard packaging solutions for food and non-food products using thermoforming technology. Customers represent many different business sectors.

“When safety is high, the facility is both safe to visit and to work at for our 102 employees. It also means that our customers can count on Berry Superfos as a reliable plastic packaging supplier, delivering high-quality flawless products according to plan and agreement,” says Przemysław Greinert who works closely together with the Berry Superfos site in Poznań, Poland, to ensure a sustained great safety performance at both sites.

Going beyond the record 3,653 days
At the Kruszwica site, the ambition is to keep on setting safety records. But the real motivator, according to Przemysław Greinert, is not just a record number, it is to keep everyone safe at work and customers happy.  To maintain focus on safety and quality, the facility is audited according to the Blue audit scoring model and also holds the following certifications: ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management) and BRC (Hygiene and Quality).

Another record-setting site is our facility in Blackburn, UK, which just set an 8-year record without any reportable accidents. In fact, the EHS work has high priority, not only in Kruszwica and Blackburn, but at all 24 Berry Superfos facilities across Europe. To this end, all facilities are audited according to the Blue audit scoring model and hold the same certifications as the Kruszwica site, some even more.
