As a RPC Superfos customer you are used to a high-end delivery performance and supply chain efficiency. Now, after a general brush up, the logistics related to our packaging solution is becoming even better. One of the changes concerns the structure of our Distribution Centres (DC). Divisional Supply Chain Manager, Lars Gjøde says:
“We have recently optimised the structure of our DCs. Two of them will close down, in Denmark and Sweden respectively, but their capacity will be fully made up for by two other DCs nearby. The remaining 14 DCs will be able to reach all our customers from 1 January 2012. For instance, our new DC in Cremona, Italy, now delivers the full product program of RPC Superfos. This ensures speedy and cost-effective delivery with only one point of contact.”
Trace any item
Trackability is one another central parameter which has been improved, through the implementation of GTIN (Global Trade Item Number) in any corner of RPC Superfos. Linked with your own ERP system (Enterprise Resource Planning), the standard EAN-128 barcodes ensure that information on the packaging is ready at hand whenever you need it just by scanning on it.
“GTIN for all products allows customers to scan our packaging quite easily and to trace them. We now print two barcodes on our packaging products, one with the Serial Shipping code and one with GTIN, quantity and batch number,” Lars Gjøde explains.
Labels carry useful information
The new production labels of RPC Superfos also carry a useful and new stackability number: It indicates how many pallets packed with empty packaging can be stacked upon each other in your warehouse.
Also, keep an eye on the “fit-for-food” logo which will appear on the label in case the packaging is suitable for food. The label will also contain other pieces of information like for instance production year and the total number of pallets/boxes within the batch.
Every day of the year and 24/7, RPC Superfos produces thousands of packaging units per minute. This adds up to 1 million pallets produced, stored and shipped every year and makes efficiency highly important. We constantly strive to meet your packaging needs, also in respect of supply chain efficiency.
