Milkiland is one of the large players in the dairy market in Ukraine and Russia. Every day, the company delivers 500 tons of high quality fresh milk, cheese and butter to more than 10,000 retailers mainly in these countries. This leading position obliges and therefore Milkiland follows a strategy that includes regular introduction of new products which will help the dairy company stay on top and differentiate from the competition.
Freshness reflected
“We spotted a trend in Ukraine pointing at a European-style diet. So we wanted to introduce a new fresh cheese product – mozzarella - and decided to have the inherent freshness and novelty of this cheese reflected in a new packaging,” says Elena Shulinova, brand-manager of Cheese category at Milkiland.
“RPC Superfos had a very good solution to offer in the form of the UniPak pot 425 ml with a square shape. In particular, we fell for the combination of three strong qualities: UniPak allows us to comply with the strict level of hygiene standards for food, including the tamper evidence; the liquid-tight snap-on lid makes it is easy to re-close the pot; and finally, the pot looks fantastic on shelf. UniPak gives our product an appealing look and end-users get ample convenience,” says Elena Shulinova.
Partly transparent
Part of the pot is transparent enabling the consumers to see the mozarella cheese including the liquid already in the supermarket. This sets off the freshness of the product. On the pot there are also razor sharp images of the cheese fringed with tempting tomatoes and decorative basil leaves.
The UniPak pot is versatile, timeless and flexible. It is available in round, oval, rectangular and square shapes and comes in a broad range of sizes. Tamper evidence is standard for all volumes and one single lid type fits several volumes.
The Marketing Department at Milkiland reports that the sales of the new mozzarella product meet expectations. The fresh cheese segment is in its early stage in CIS (Commonwealth of Independant States; countries that used to be part of the Soviet Union), but is anticipated to grow within the near future.
