The packaging must sell the product

Two new paint qualities for the DIY market triggered a re-design of the packaging. Leader in paint in Balkan countries, JUB, is proud of the result.


Enhanced paint quality calls for a new packaging and therefore the paint producer JUB in Slovenia decided to adopt plastic paint containers from RPC Superfos for the launch of interior paint under the brand JUPOL Trend and JUPOL Classic. Both are targeted at the DIY market.

Jelka Slatinsek, Head of Marketing at JUB explains:

“We have experience with both metal and plastic containers, and found that plastic containers meet our requirements. When it was time for two new products, we decided to opt for the 2,5L Paintainer® and the 15L SuperOval™ pail.”

Sending signals
The big oval container is used for JUPOL Classic, a new white paint of increased quality. The pail is decorated with vivid colours and has a fresh look; the design signals that this paint is exactly what you need to add bright whiteness to any room.

The other new range, JUPOL Trend, consists of interior paint in modern shades. The look of the pack lives up to its name, as the use of a black background with a colour drop gives a fashionable and trendy impression. Further, for each colour tone, a beautiful musical instrument shown on the pail invites the DIY painter to pick the most preferred jazzy colour.

“Consumers find the packaging of the entire JUPOL product family very recognizable. We strive for always being consistent and innovative when designing packaging and we are very proud of the new JUPOL Trend packaging,” Jelka Slatinsek says and continues:

“We want our customers to like not only our product, but also our packaging. On shelves, packaging must evoke interest; create desire to buy and sell a product. You may say the most visible form of marketing is the packaging.”

For professionals and DIY
Jelka Slatinsek ads that JUB offers paint products for the professional painter and for the DIY market and that the packaging plays a key role in reflecting the purpose of the product. She is pleased with the fact that the new packaging has been well received and that lots of end users find it beautiful and likeable.

Other than the domestic Slovenian market, the paint products of JUB reach most of the countries in the wider Balkan region. JUB has been in the paint business since 1875, so this year marks the company’s 140th anniversary.
