Pick & Mix: new in-shop experience with SuperLock®

Pick & Mix: new in-shop experience with SuperLock®

Consumers in Belgium can now enjoy an interactive shopping experience in supermarkets mixing their own selection of nutritious nuts from Ranobo. The practical SuperLock® container from Superfos is ideal for this ‒ at point of sales and also on-the-go.

The shop display is inviting; the pick & mix nut selection is nutritious and delicious, and the self-service container is strong, practical and has a screw lid. Ranobo, a Belgian wholesaler of nuts, tropical fruits and rice crackers, is pleased with the launch of their new supermarket concept for selling nuts, including the packaging, the SuperLock® container from Superfos.

SuperLock® has it all
Ranobo has been on the nut market for over 20 years; however, the in-shop pick & mix idea is fairly new. It is still early days but all indicators point towards success.

One of the founders of Ranobo, Gilles Jeuris, says:

“Ranobo has installed pick & mix displays at a few supermarkets and we are reaching the expected sales figures. Our nut selection is popular, yet without the SuperLock® pot, our concept would not have turned into what we see today.”

He highlights that the SuperLock® container is strong, good looking and practical; these qualities convey the brand values of the Ranobo way:

“We wanted to present our nuts in a new and attractive way allowing for more direct interaction with end-users, so we came up with the pick & mix idea and needed a suitable container to match our stand. Superfos suggested the SuperLock® solution and it really has it all: an easy-to-use screw lid, the right size and strong material which withstands multiple use in many situations.”

Pot protects nuts on-the-go
Nuts are widely appreciated as a healthy snack and ideal for people who spend long periods driving. Therefore, the shape and size of the SuperLock® pot is an advantage as it perfectly fits into car cup holders. In addition, the screw lid ensures easy re-closure and makes an audible click-sound when closed correctly.

“In SuperLock® our products are well protected and prevented from drying out and the screw-lid reassures the consumers that the nuts will safely stay inside the pot even on-the-go. In this way, we preserve the quality of the Ranobo experience,” Gilles Jeuris explains.

Matches awareness of sustainability
At the supermarket, shoppers can choose between two sizes: 300 gr or 450 gr. The pots are embellished with In-Mould Labelling, much to the liking of Ranobo. The nut wholesaler also values the rigid plastic packaging because it is so strong that people tend to keep it when empty. He says:

“We like the idea of our pot being re-used for various purposes. It does not matter whether our end-users put pencils or cookies in it afterwards; we like the extra post-purchase experience that comes from re-use. The SuperLock® solution adds value to our business because it matches our idea of sustainability, our practical mind and the brand image of Ranobo.”

“For a few years now we have been working with Superfos and appreciate our business relationship. Now, we are even more satisfied as the new solution contributes to an invigorated shopping experience from buying our nuts. We would like our fruitful cooperation to continue,” Gilles Jeuris concludes.
