For a new premium range of special spreads Lesieur, a French leader in processed food, now uses SuperLock. When introduced to the outstanding qualities of SuperLock, Lesieur realised that this packaging offered the features they had been looking for without finding it anywhere else.
Long shelf life without the risk of broken glass
“We wanted to launch our new products for cooking and for making appetizers in a plastic container suitable for restaurants in particular. In professional kitchens safety is important and we wanted to offer a pot without the risk of broken glass.”
“Also, we needed a packaging that could withstand autoclaving and keep the oxygen transmission at a minimum rate to offer products with a guaranteed shelf life of at least 1 year,” Food Service Marketing Manager Marina Testu from Lesieur explains.
She stresses that the design of SuperLock is an important advantage as well: it has a twist-off lid that ensures trouble-free opening and re-closure. Further, it is straight sided. This makes it easy to empty and none of the content must end in the bin because you can’t get it out of the pot.
Lesieur values the extensive range of design options through the In-Mould Labelling technique that becomes available with SuperLock:
“We wanted to use vivid colours and show the product inside through a transparent area in the packaging. Our brand display and the colours look beautifully on SuperLock and gives a strong visual impact on shelf,” says Marina Testu.
A top chef has developed dried tomato spread, aubergine caviar and black olive tapenade for Lesieur to be sold under the brand PUGET in 535 ml pots. The savoury spreads will be sold to restaurants through Cash & Carry and Food Service Distribution. The launch takes place in April this year.
“This packaging solution caters to all our demands, so it was an easy choice to convert from glass to plastic. SuperLock is an absolutely convincing packaging solution: Like glass, it allows for a transparent area, but it doesn’t break. This matters to us, to our distributors, hotels, restaurant and to our other end-users,” adds Marina Testu from Lesieur.
